Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our RN-led, non-medical home care services for seniors and adults with disabilities.

General

What’s the difference between home care and home health care?

Home care (what Heevana provides) is non-medical support — help with bathing, dressing, meals, mobility, medication reminders, and companionship. It doesn’t require a doctor’s order. Home health care involves medical services like wound care or physical therapy, requires a physician’s order, and is delivered by licensed medical staff.

How do I know if it’s the right time for home care?

If you’re noticing missed meals, skipped medication reminders, a messier home than usual, or your own growing worry every time you’re not there — those are common signs it may be time to talk. There’s no wrong time to have the conversation.

Can we choose our caregiver, or change if it’s not a good fit?

Yes. We take caregiver-client fit seriously, and as a private-pay agency, you have real flexibility if a different match would serve your family better.

RN Oversight

Is Heevana licensed?

Yes. Heevana is a licensed Texas Home and Community Support Services Agency (HCSSA), regulated by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

How quickly can care start?

Timelines depend on your specific needs, but we move quickly — reach out and we’ll talk through what’s realistic for your situation.

How are your caregivers screened?

Every caregiver completes a criminal background check, a Texas Nurse Aide and Employee Misconduct Registry check, and a drug screening before ever entering a client’s home. We also verify experience and competency before any placement.

What is respite care?
